not to strut your stuffFaline had gone a touch overboard on her first ever dorm room. Her roommate hadn't minded much, she too was a bit of a glamour diva, but still, she hadn't really regretted it until the summer approached again.
She had her suitcase, she had crates and boxes for her things, but it was a daunting task. Her car, which had been parked at the school all year for any of her outing needs, needed to be packed full of her things, ready to go back to the mainland to spend the summer with her parents. They weren't ready for her to have the kind of freedom to live on the island on her own, neither was she really, if she were to say so herself. She couldn't handle living on her own, as her semester had showed, when she had met with Bambi again she had been struggling to figure out laundry.
She had been slow to pack, and at the last possible minute had finished, mostly out of a laziness. She didn't want to drive all the way back, even if it was only an hour or so. She didn't want to stuff all her things in her car only to have to unpack everything when she made it back home, even if she did so love decorating her room. It was just so tedious.
Getting everything out of the building was another story.
Faline had figured that if she took multiple boxes at a time, she could get it done faster, but she had forgotten that it meant she would have limited visibility. While she was making her way out to the car, she happened to trip off of the curb, her boxes going flying, and herself hitting the pavement with a small thud and a groan.

Tod was in the middle of grabbing the last of his things from the back of his closet, seriously, how did so much junk get shoved back there?, when he heard the thud outside. Sounded like something falling over on the street under his window. From the groan that followed, it was someone as well.
Happy for the excuse to ditch packing, Tod shoved a few stray socks into his duffle and hurried to the window. He leaned way out so he could see straight down. God he loved his balance. Thank you weird earthquakes.
A girl lay on the pavement with a couple boxes strewn around her. Another student packing up probably. Most of the other students had already left, but there were a few about that, like Tod, had been putting off packing. It didn’t matter that packing for Tod really just meant shoving things in a duffle, then being scolded for letting all his things get wrinkled later by Mama Tweed. Now that the weather was so perfect, how could he be expected to stay inside!
“Are you ok?” he called down to the girl. “You didn’t hit your head, did you?” He eyed all her things all over the sidewalk and road. “Hang on a sec,” he added. “I’ll be right down to help.” He grabbed his room key and jumped eagerly down the stairs to the dorm building’s door. Helping out someone outside and avoiding packing for a little longer. Win win!
